Scifi-Meshes.com is CLOSED. (This is not a joke)
Why is SFM closed? In the last few weeks I (Aceman) have noticed a growing lack of fun that used to be scifi-meshes.com. It seems to me that SFM has slowly turned into a site where people come to trade insults, poke fun, or otherwise discuss anything and everything unrelated to 3D graphics or science fiction. There is an underlying tone of disrespect among the membership, that sadly, even extends to the staff that helps me run the site.
Because of my job, which pays for this server/site, I have been unable to give SFM the apparent attention it needs to keep running smoothly. In fact it seems to me that every time I am able to check on the site, I'm dealing with a member problem. And usually these problems could have been avoided if one of the two sides had taken a moment to think... but it seems to me that people just aren't interested in being nice, having fun, or learning from others. Well honestly I don't pay over $130.00 a month to host a site like this. So, for the time being SFM's forums will be closed. How long? Hell I don't know.. But I need time to consider my options, and determine what is the best course of action. Because I will NOT administrate a site that is out of control like this.
How long will SFM be closed? I don't even know the answer to that question, but I do know that it's not going to keep going on like this. I compare the issues on this site to a ride on a ferris wheel. One moment things are fine.. then someone does something to piss off another member and the battle starts.. then the problem is fixed.. only to repeat it self at a later date. Well I'm getting off this ride. I have desperately tried to keep SFM fun, and light on the rules. I try and handle things with a light hand and honestly give people several chances, more then I should, to show they can behave. Call it egos, personalities, or personal history with another member, but ALOT of you can't seem to let shit go. Your taking advantage of my good nature, and worst of all I'm letting you get away with it... on my own site. Shame on me.
Why not just ban the people causing problems? Because it seems to me there are soooo many at the moment, sorting out who's who would take me more time then I can commit at this time. Besides, I consider a banning to be a failure on my part. A good forum leader should know how to manage his staff, address his members problems, and keep the site fun. I'm not doing any of that at the moment.
So for the time being I'm closing the forums. We may reopen our doors soon or we may not... That remains to be seen.

Whatever Aceman's reasons may be, it is his decision but I think it can be taken as an example of what not to let happen, here or anywhere else!
